Disney’s / Pixar’s Cars movie is on heavy rotation at our house so I thought that the car show would be a good outing for the boys. I think Henry was overwhelmed but still had a good time. For my 2.5 year old getting in the cars and pretending he was driving was a lot of fun. For my new walker the whole place is padded with crazy lush carpet…not exactly the first thing on everyone’s checklist but it made it super save for Ollie and worked for me.
My favorite section was the DUB section which is downstairs. This is where you have all the after-market, custom and speciality bikes, gigantic tow trucks, cars and hoopties. Very few people know that I love after-market cars and loud exhaust. Back in the day I even was a passenger in a street race or two or ten down by the airport (are they still doing that?). Anyway their are DJ’s, it is loud and fun and a little more down and dirty. There is also a mini race car track for the kids and a virtual racing game.
We had a lot of trouble pulling Matt and Henry off the Harley Davidson bikes…a.k.a I have my work cut out for me.
Know before you go:
We went on a weekend and the second day it was open. The stroller line for the elevator was long. Even through the building is new they made the public elevators WAY TOO SMALL and only 1 – maybe 2 families can fit on them at a time.
The Show is all in one section now since it has moved to the new building. Major plus.
Kids under seven are free
I would park in the big parking decks instead of the small lots that are around the perimeter of the Pa Convention Center. The small lots tend to really pack them in and chances are you will wait longer to get in and get out. The parking deck I recommend is on 11th street across from the Reading Terminal Market. Want to get in and out even faster? insert your credit card instead of just taking a ticket when you enter. That was you don’t have wait in the line at the kiosk when you are leaving.
