We wind up here about once a year. I can’t say it is on my hit list but I know tourist are encouraged to go there but seriously with all the other great places to eat I would skip this one. HUGE is the main word that describes everything there. Not tasty, not affordable ($12 chicken sandwich), not yummy…just HUGE. The whole wow factor is the elaborate portions. Basically everything is piled to the sky with pickles on the side and I really think taste is sacrificed. What I would do is stop in and grab a giant black and white cookie or a huge eclair ($8) to take home. It is busy and often crowded and our waiter was awesome today but most the staff has a touch of rudeness going on which…would you believe… I am not up for. For example I took Henry to the bakery counter because he was getting rammy at the table. Finally someone asked if I needed help. She asked if this was to take out and I said yes after we finished eating. She walked away annoyed say order from your server. Like all things Philly there are rules to ordering and heaven forbid…even a local…doesn’t get the memo.
If you have little kids the place is busy enough to drown out their noise but the seating is tight, the food does not come out quick and you should share your meal with them b/c of the portion sizes. Oh and order the check when you get your food b/c the servers get busy.
