I would love to eat out more.  I would love to eat out with my children but they have one bite, hop out of their seats and then I just spend the rest of the time corralling them and throwing food in my mouth while I try to look SUPER relaxed about the whole thing. I mean after I order for the table I ask for the check…if that gives you any idea of what I am working with. Last night we took a stab at Weber’s Drive-In in Pennsauken, NJ and to my surprise it was the calmest meal we have had in months. The food wasn’t healthy but the experience was. No crying, everyone ate and we got home just in time for bath, books and bed.

So the concept of Weber’s Drive-In in case you have never heard of it or passed it is exactly what it sounds like. You pull in, the menu is on big boards in front of you, a waitress  (are super sweet) takes your order and before you can even check your text messages they have your food hanging off the side of your car. In our case we popped open the back of the Jeep threw a towel down and the boys ate al trunk- fresco. Effective enough to keep the rest of the car clean and exotic enough to keep them entertained.

Need something? Just turn on your lights and your waitress pops right over. The hot dogs are great, the pork roll sandwiches are amazing, the fries are totally worth the calories but the boys could really only focus on the giant frosty mugs we set in front of them. One with a black and white shake and the other with their first root beer float. Not a peep. Only eating, sharing and slurping. No, I did not give my kids vegetables that night and no I will not be wining any awards. But in that parking lot along a busy highway summer was 100% at its finest and no one was yelling.
