Honestly I don’t get out enough (sans kids) and making appointments for myself is something I completely dread because I feel like I have to move heaven and earth to walk out the door to go to them.  Affordable Skin Care is one of the few places I go to religiously and everyone can fend for themselves…not really but it is the one appointment on the calendar that does not get moved.  I have talked about Affordable Skin Care before so why am I buzzing about them again? They offer massages now and well they are awesome…So awesome I made my next appointment before this post went live…

When you have a small staff like the one at Affordable Skin Care you have to make sure everyone on the team is beyond excellent and that is something owner, Mary Freihofner excels at.  Mary’s proves this again with her latest addition to the team, masseuse, Cheryl Sickels.

When my massage was over Mary asked me what I thought and I said I loved it and I will tell you why….

I would consider myself wound pretty tightly. Now if you met me and disagree with that it is because I have learned to hide it.  I love massages but the entire time I am mentally “watching the clock”. I know when I have to turn over I have 30 minutes left. When you get to the head massage part I know the end is swiftly near and when they do that little press and pat on your main joints I know it is seconds before the pretty ocean music ends and my bum is out on the sidewalk.  And that is what I am thinking about the entire time . As soon as my massage starts all I am thinking about it how sad I will be when it is over.  I have officially dubbed myself a “Massage Waster.”

For whatever reason Cheryl has this really cool talent of confusing time. She does not follow the typical massage path so you don’t know what is next. And I remember thinking this is awesome but it seems like she is spending so much time on one area  there is no way she will get to everything before time is up….but that was not true. Not sure how she does it but when it was over I was not depressed but actually relaxed, imagine that.  I can remember when an esthetician told me that when they are working on you they just go into automatic doing their grocery list in their head, planning their to-do list, ect. I honestly don’t think Cheryl does that or anyone at Affordable Skin Care for that matter and it shows.

Cheryl is also very good at making you relaxed with her. For the first time I adjusted the pressure of my massage. It is stupid but I am always too shy to do that. If it is a hard massage I wince and take it. If the massage is too soft I zone out and don’t say a thing. Not this time. I got exactly what I wanted.

So I think you…Yes, you do more than enough to justify a 60 minutes massage that cost $65.00 but feels like a million bucks. Maybe even a hot stone…don’t knock it till you tried it! Also factor in the stress free plentiful free parking and you have yourself a mega deal for a facial in the city.

Also check for additional deals on their Facebook.
