LITTLE BABY’S ICE CREAM SHOP

I am pretty sure the Food Pyramid Police will probably be showing up at my door by Friday but I am willing to risk it. Yesterday we made the quick trip up Frankfort Ave. to Little’s Baby’s newest and non mobile location to ruin our dinners with exotic flavored ice cream…

 I have talked about Little Baby’s Ice Cream before but now that they have expanded their empire to an actual brick and mortar we are going to talk about them again. Afternoons are do or die time in my house and I am always looking for ways to fill them.

The inside of Little Baby’s is “The Max” (dinner from Save by the Bell) laced with Hipster. There is no sign outside yet and from the sidewalk the wall of pizza inspired record covers and gallery like front room will  have you checking the address on your smart phone more than once. Open the door, get your bum in there and get started. In the back awaits Little Baby’s exotic classics and daily specials.

We opted for the ice cream sandwich versions and it was so the way to go. I will be honest, they had me at snickerdoodle chai and then the rest went blurry. I also might have sampled the birch beer vanilla bean sugar cookie and it might have been awesome and tasted just like those root beer hard candies that I would get at Halloween. We set the kids up with their ice cream sandwich choices in the gallery front room since Frankfort Ave. is just too busy to have them sitting on the step. The place and the ice cream was great. I think what is going to be the “jam up” for the owners is having kids with messy ice cream hands and mouths in their purposely planned über hip space. I wiped down the newly painted walls and all is good but I think the world of ice cream+hipsters+children+cool space is about to collide. I just hope they are ready…I mean really ready. Because the kid below WILL BE BACK.
