This one is specific to my hood so I apologize in advance. NoLibs and Fishtown are up and coming-there is no denying it. But what we lack in polish we more than make up for in food. And the addition of Baan Thai on Liberties Walk is no exception.

Right now there is no way I am able to get Ollie to sit at a table for more than 5 minutes. When we do go out I stick to places where we know the owners so we can’t get kicked out. (Once again I must apologize to everyone at Zahav for my need to have a family dinner out last month….thanks Michael!) Which means that take-out needs to be apart of our lives on busy nights. Take-out in NoLibs is limited and inconsistent which is why I am loving Baan Thai on Liberties Walk. Now I did wait a few weeks before I posted this because I wanted to get some more opinions. The verdict is in. Everyone hearts Baan Thai. For lunch or dinner, dine in or take out you can’t go wrong.

Local Mom Rooju T. loves Chabaa Thai Bistro in Manayunk and found this to be comparable and we all agree it Circles on 2nd does not even come close. This seems to be Rooju’s go to lunch spot these days.

Local Dad and serious Thai food lover Ben L. was out walking his dogs and when I asked him what he thought his response was…” I ate there four time last week…they probably thing I am crazy.” We talked about how hard it is to get GOOD Thai in Philly and how Baan Thai totally fits the bill right now.

The first time we picked up it took 30 minutes and the following week it took 15minutes. Both times it was awesome and worth the wait. It is everything you love about Thai with awesome hits of lemongrass, cilantro and curry. Always the perfect amounts and I have never been disappointed. Looks like this is going to be a weekly thing for me and the crew. I would even be willing to take advantage of this Indian Summer weather and grab a table outside for lunch with the boys and check out these spring rolls I am hearing so much about.

Only down side is I can’t find the menu anywhere on-line. Fooboz “has it” but it is impossible to read. For now you have to order in person but I will make sure I update this post as soon as I find the menu on-line. So the next time you need take out or if you are visiting NoLibs for the afternoon put Baan Thai on your list.
