Grocery Delivery

I am moved to write about grocery delivery. It is true that Oliver has a flip out ever 30 minutes and walking to the grocery store, to the bodega, and simply to the car seems to inspire them. This can make getting things impossible and to be honest the last thing I want to do at the end of a long tantrum filled day is cruise the iseles of the grocery store. What once seemed like a mini vacation now seems like torture. I am tired, the lines are long then the whole unpacking process once I get home….argh. Not to mention I am overstocking on things because I don’t want to make a repeat trip.

So even though the grocery store is a block away I thought I would revisit getting my groceries delivered. I have always been a huge fan but when the grocery store went in down the street I stopped. You have plenty of options out there to pick from. But I decided to go with the new kid on the block: Peapod that delivers for Giant. The whole experience was so easy it kinda rocked my world…

The best part of the whole thing were the text alerts that you can sign up for. You get a text alert the morning of your delivery. I selected a four hour delivery window but when you get that reminder text they already have the delivery schedule figured out and they told me my new window was 8:00 to 10:00 pm. Super helpful. Then I got a text alert when the driver was on route to my house (time to get off the couch and throw my shoes on). Then I got a text when he was outside my house. Which for me meant no ringing of the doorbell and having the dog bark and wake the boys.

Everything arrived perfect, including the eggs. I had a friend mention that they would not want someone picking out their produce. To be honest I have found that the produce they give you is actually beautiful. (yep, I said that) They know that if they gave you bunk produce there is no way the service was survive and they would be flooded with complaints. So no worries there.

Other Stuff that I loved:

1. I placed my order on-line. *Making it so much easier to double check if I was out of something. Looking more at their site I saw you can also shop from your smartphone, iPad or Kindle. This will come in super handy when I am out on our adventures and need to update my order. Like how I am looking at a snotty nosed Ollie and realize that I did not order tissues.

2. I got to choose a late delivery time. *Mean the boys would be in bed and would not be “helping” me unpack.

3. You can select and “unattended” delivery.*If you have a safe place for the groceries to be left at your house that is exactly what they will do.

4. They are offering tons of promos right now to get you to try it. I can easily justify the $7.95 delivery fee for how easy it was and in the end it probably saved me money. But I am loving the Free Delivery for 60 days new member promo. I go to the grocery store at least once a week so this totally works for me. Click here to check it out.

I get that your grocery story is probably right down the street but with free delivery for new clients and for how over the top easy this was I think you might want to give it a whirl and cross this task off your list.
