What does a Mom do when she finds herself on the upper blocks of South Street, hungry, alone (so rare) and in search of a hot amazing meal prepare by someone other then her….I’ll tell you…Magpies.
It was my luck that I wondered past and fell in love with the outside enough to stumble inside. So much for that “don’t judge a book by its cover” rule. Once I saw how cute and cozy the inside was I totally bagged my original plan of my working quickie lunch at the coffee shop up the street. Ahhh I am kind of lying once they told me that they put EVERYTHING in a pie….I bagged my original plan and pulled up a seat at the counter.
I treated myself to a savory pie of Smoked Gouda and Butternut Squash. Also a slice of Pumpkin Praline with whipped cream might have accidently fell into my mouth. …and two orders of Pie Fries with cherry and apricot dipping sauce might have fallen into my bag on the way out. Everything was awesome. The atmosphere was homey, cozy and special. I did it old school and sat at the counter for my meal-o-pies but there is a banquet of a few tables if you want to keep it traditional. I can’t wait to find myself in that neck of the woods again and have my next “working mom” lunch. They just opened in September so get there before your friends and you can be considered “the cutting edge one.”
They are also taking pie orders for Thanksgiving in the event that you want a homemade pie made by someone else.
