It is cold outside and I trying to cut their TV drastically. So that means after school we need to find new adventures. M boys are good but they are boys. They love to get a good karate chop in here and there so I have waited till now to check out the Expressive Hand, the paint your own pottery place, off South Street.
I took my bulls into a China shop and I hoped for a good night. We were the only one in there on a Wednesday night besides people picking up their pottery. There are lots of grown up blanks to pick from but the boys picked their favorites right away. They locked eyes on a car and skateboard and got to work. The staff was really great. They showed us all our paint options, gave up a ton of brushes and set us up with water. The boys only job was to paint and have a nice time.
I will say the next time I go I will put the paint in pallets because the boys kept mixing their paint in the pain containers. We did end up compromising 4 colors but in our defense we used up all the paint in them.
I would say the whole thing took about 30 minutes. I would think girls might take a bit longer. We handed over their masterpieces and we are waiting to see how they look after they have been fired. the night cost us $51.00 but your cost will depend on the piece you pick.
I vote yes on Expressive Hand. It was quite and gave up time to talk and hang out. I will say that when we were done I really wanted to scoot them out of there ASAP b/c they are so many thing on the shelves that are breakable that honestly it would take one honest toddler trip or bump to make your night go south.
Afterwards we booked down the block to Ralph’s for some ravioli and cannolis. Date night was a success!
