Christmas in Cape May
Being a Cape May SLOCAL (summer local) I have a soft spot for Cape May. It is calm, quite, peaceful and safe. Basically the exact opposite of what the rest of America thinks about NJ. The boys and I headed down this past weekend to kick off Christmas.
Saturday night we took a drive to look at all the Victorian houses dressed up in lights for the holidays and I knew Congress Hall would be impressive but when I saw the vintage carousel and kiddie train all lit up on the front lawn I pulled over and released my boys. If you have never been Congress Hall is a giant old hotel that has been fully restored. It has an amazing lawn and sits right across from the beach. At 7:00p.m. the boys were bundled up and running from one thing to the next. The boys were all smiles on the train then the carousel and with cookies crumbling out of their mouths under the heat lamp. The entire lawn is taken over. There is a section around the pool, the pool is fenced off (*super nice touch CH), with little shops. These are not the crappy kind there are beautiful little vignettes from the best shops in Cape May.
There is also breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning through 12/21. If you are looking to have a sweet little holiday weekend with the little ones this is worth checking out. The train was $3/ child and so was the carousel. Adults are allows to go on both with their child for free. I have to say I always appreciate that. I expected some Ohhhs and Ahhhs over the lights so it was a really nice surprise when I saw the beautiful lawn all lit up and my boys running around with big smiles and all dimples. Photo-op Central BTW.
