After our trip to Funplex the random feedback that I am still getting a week later from the boys is:”Can I have my birthday party there?” and “I want to live at Funplex forever.” So there you have it from the pint sized peanut gallery. Let’s get into the real details…
Funplex was 100% awesome and it is worth putting on your list (ok, so I guess I don’t sound that much different then the boys).
- Would we go back? YES!
- Is it worth the money? YES!
- Worth the drive? YES!
- This is hands down the best teenager staff I have encountered ever. I think staff makes a huge difference in your experience and they were awesome.
It takes about 30 minutes to get there and is about 5 miles past Skyzone, Moorestown. It is a lot bigger then I thought it would be. With bowling, an arcade, XD Theater ride, foam ball zone, 2 sections of bumper cars, go karts and laser tag you need to have a lot of room. Then during the summer they have a water park, amusement park rides and a pool (we are totally going to check that out this summer).
With all that fun going on I think it takes a special person to take on Funplex on the weekends. We went on a week night and besides a few bowling couples and families our kids had the place to themselves. We stayed until the Dads starting calling and asking where the heck we were.
When you arrive you decide what you will be doing and get a wristband based on that. Pricing ranges from $26.95 to $19.95 per child. All the sections have height requirements. Our 5 year olds had no problem meeting the requirements but take a look at the amusement list where they break down each section by height for you. That way you can know what to expect before you go. Funplex feels they are set up for ages 4 and above when it comes to the indoor things.
- looks like if you buy your admission on-line it is slightly cheaper
- Next time I go I would do the Weekday Extreme Band from $19.95 / child
- We probably would not do the go karts b/c then I would have to pay for a wrist band. But honestly they would have spent the entire three hours in the Foam Frenzy if we would have let them.
- Parking is free
- ($5.00 toll to get back into Philly)
The Arcade is large with lots of new video games. I do think the arcade is expensive and that can be a little tough. Fortunately there is so much to do there that in situations like that I put the boys on a budget and when it is gone it is gone. The games take tokens and you can get them a the counter.
This is where they spent the majority of their time. This was their all time favorite. It is kind of like a foam ball blaster mad scientist lab. If that makes any sense. This is for ages 4 and up. Which does make sense because you can totally wipe out with all those small foam balls on the ground. Personal tip…Leave the wedge sneakers at home for this one.
You take the cloth bags that are all over and fill them up with balls and head up to the balcony level and fill up your blaster and fire away. You can take your ball bag and fill up the barrel drums that are hook up to the yellow blaster and have a machine gun effect. You can also fill the erupting ball blaster in the center of the room or the ball cage that dumps from the ceiling every 15-20 minutes. We loved it so much we made a video montage!
The bowling alley is really nice and they are happy to put up bumper lanes for you. This is the only thing that we did not do at Funplex. I mean we spent three hours there and we just ran out of time! I am not a bowler BUT if I was I can totally see parents bowling and the kids running around and doing whatever they want between the arcade and all the other stuff. Not my ultimate date night but I am more of a bouncy castle girl then a bowler.
There are bumper cars that little kids can go on themselves then there are bigger bumper cars that they need and adult to go on with them (depending on their height). It has been a long time since I have done bumper cars. It was kinda awesome. The Go Karts are in the video montage above. The boys (ages 4+5) we allowed on them with an adult. We raced around and the kids yelled and teased each other….Basically Norman Rockwell with GoKarts.
And for this summer we are totally going to check out all their outdoor attractions especially the Splashin’ Speedway because a season pass is only $79.00 / person. Can’t wait to review it this summer!
