Peter Rabbit Tales
Arts Bank Theater, Broad and South
Thank you to everyone that came out for the Hipster Henry PLAY-DATE at Enchantment Theatre Co. last Saturday and of course a special giant thank-you to Enchantment Theatre Co. for hosting all of us and the awesome discount on tickets.
If you were not able to make the PLAY-DATE the play is running until January 3rd and now we are going to tell you all about it!
This play really catered to kids between ages 2 and 7. So when we walked in the theater was buzzing with families with young children. The play opens up in a really great way for a younger audience. The characters were in their costumes but they each entered the stage with a dance and put their mask on right in front of you. This gave the kids a chance to see that the characters, especially the “bad guys,” were people just like them.represented him was impressive
The costumes are wonderfully done with each animal taking on their own personality though their movements. That is important because the actors do not talk in the play. The entire play is narrated by a beautiful voice so that it makes everyone in the audience feel as if a Peter Rabbit book has dropped to the floor, popped open, and came to life in front of us. The set design was minimal yet filled with so many creative and impressive features. I did a little gasp when the basket opened (but you will have to see the play yourself to know what I mean). The creation of Mr. McGregor’s Garden and the giant three-man puppet was impressive whether you were 2 or 82. However I think it is fair to say that it was Mr. McGregor’s cat the stole the show.
From all the parents I asked they enjoyed the show and would do it again. Plays can be expensive for families so the promo code helped out. Even though their little ones bounced around in their seats a bit it was a great trip and a great play.
Peter Rabbit Tales is 60 minutes long with activities in the lobby before you arrive and a Q & A with the actors afterwards. To purchase tickets before the show is gone visit their website! http://enchantmenttheatre.org/
