Arden’s out with their latest play and I am sure many of you will be happy to know that it is Peter Pan. It is always exciting to see the twist that Arden takes on children’s plays. It is even more exciting to see the twist they take on a well known plays.
The Arden’s version of Peter Pan consists of five actors and uses a family camping trip as a backdrop to kick everything off. Wendy is a grown-up and as she tells her daughter Jane a bedtime story of her childhood friend Peter Pan the story starts to unfold. Captain Hook is a women, which is fun to see and I think everyone in my group loved the scene with the mermaids. But that is all I will give up because I want you to be surprised.
Henry went to his first Arden play when he was two and I am always a big proponent of taking little ones to live theater especially the shows at the Arden. I think this show is great for ages 6 and up. There isn’t as much crazy- silly in this production as in previous ones. There are also some monologues that little ones might find it tough to sit through. The Arden is very intimate so it was very easy to hear the little one two rows behind us asking a steady series of questions throughout the show.
During the holiday season catching a show at the Arden is always a great way to celebrate and the Arden always makes the production special by doing a Q+A after each performance and letting the children meet the actors afterwards for photos.
