Maybe it is having 2 kids 17 months apart….maybe it was helping Henry with his beyond severe acid reflux for the first year of his life…maybe it is just me being me. Whatever it is I need to stop clenching my jaw and I need to do it soon.
So I had my first session at Barefoot Doctor Acupuncture Clinic and hence I have discovered another reason to cross Girard.
You walk in and immediately you hear relaxing music and after a little paperwork and a chat with Jenny Corbin about what ails you…head to the back where you can pick your recliner and get started. I have to tell you what sticks (pun intended) in my mind the most is when Jenny said “Let me get you a blanket.” Let me get you a blanket…when was the last time someone said that to you?
Okay so yes small pins are gently tapped into specific points on your body. For me it was not painful and Jenny carefully watches to make sure you are fine with each needle. Once you are all set you just lie back and relax for about 20 minutes. There are about 5 other chairs in the room so there will be people getting their treatments at the same time. With a white noise machine in between each chair and the chairs spread out you really don’t notice anyone else being there. The results after my first session? I think I was a bit more relaxed that night. For the first time in a long time I was able to fall back asleep after Henry’s 2 a.m. hello and request to sleep in our room. I will be going back for more.
