It is little. It is personal. And it is GOOD. It is also easy to miss the cozy Portuguese Restaurant on 2nd Street in Northern Liberties. At night the lace curtains give the outside a storybook, grandmother feel…but in that, there is always something amazing smelling on the stove kind of way.
We did not take the boys and although I think the back room on a Monday night would be a great place for a family the food is hearty but adventurous. I think you would feel cheated if you had to share these dishes with a mini underdeveloped toddler palette.
We did the Chef’s Tasting Menu for $50 each and besides it being amazing I actually think it is the most affordable way to experience Koo Zee Doo. Put yourself in the Chef’s hands and I think you will be happy. The salt cod sashimi and steak with fried egg and potaoes were out of this world. When I peeked over at friend David Katz’s (chef/ owner MeMe) table I made a mental note that I will be ordering the pork and bean stew on my next visit.
Koo Zee Doo is worth the babysitter and worth your time. Oh and an added feature is that they take reservations on-line meaning that I was able to make a reservation at 6:00 a.m. before the kids woke up and I loss the use of my two hands.
