Neighborhood: University City
There are a lot of restaurants in University City that cater to the University of Penn & Drexel students but the one that they all tap their piggy banks or Dad’s for is Pod. Asian fusion deliciousness is what you will be ordering. The inside is inspired by a futuristic looking plane. I have not flown that much so I think it is more of a Willy Wonka goes Asian kinda spot. (and I mean that in a good way). Here is another restaurant that does not look kid friendly but have no fear they just hide the high chairs in the back and the staff is super friendly.
Sharing is caring at Pod because dishes are served family style and come out when they are ready. So make sure everyone does their part to order something good. A dish not to be missed is the crab fried rice. If you brought your bib go for the Asian Chicken wings…I promise you will thank me later.
Pod is just plain yummy. If you find yourself up in University City be sure to check it out. Make sure you make reservations because the place is packed even if there is a tornado outside for both lunch and dinner.
Not much to say here except I wish Pod was in my neighborhood so we could go more often.
Because it is family style you can actually get out of there without spending an arm and a leg (if you want to).
Mon-Thu 11:30am-10pm; Fri 11:30am-11pm; Sat 5pm-11pm; Sun 5pm-10pm
It can be a little hard to find because it is on a tiny side street in between 36th and 37th Street.
University City is busy so parking is a bite during the school year. At lunch time you can find a spot at a meter without too much trouble. For dinner take a spin around the block and if you can’t find anything they do have valet. It is pricey at $20 so plan ahead and leave plenty of time to find a spot.
