KIDS AT PLAY
3502 Scotts Ln, Philadelphia, PA 19129 / website
The only thing bad about our trip to Kids at Play in East Falls was after we tested it out and we were in the car set to go home… I made the mistake of telling them that I knew about Kids at Play but I didn’t bring them sooner because I thought they were too old for it. A look of horror and disappointment swept over their faces.
The truth is most indoor playspaces are geared towards the toddler crowd and when your kids get to school age they are busy with sports, birthday parties, and everything else. I had no idea that when we walked into Kids at Play my kids would run around for two full hours and would have been happy to stay even longer.
So what is this place the my boys are now asking to go back to over and over again? Kids at Play is located in the Sherman Mills complex which is behind Laurel Hill Cemetary and right by East Falls. From Fishtown it took us about 20 minutes to get to.
Kids at Play was created as a homebase (a very fun homebase) for a group of occupational, speech, and physcial therapist that work in the field but also wanted to have an official office for their pint-sized clients. We went for open gym and the last thing my kids saw was a place that is 100% designed to help them reach their milestones. All they saw was a giant zipline, giant indoor playground to climb with multiple slides, swings galore *(Ollie recommends the seal swing), a giant floor iPad where kids can use their feet to play the games, the STEP 2 race car ramp and track, and indoor archery (Yup! Archery). In case you are wondering there are designated areas for crawlers, new walkers, and everyone’s favorite TODDLERS!
OLIVER’S TOP PICK
HENRY’S TOP PICK
The boys had a great time and to be honest so did I. They played with everything over and over again and I might have taken a few spins on the zipline myself. I told Henry to move and he didn’t which means that yes, I took my 7-year old completely out. That video is on Facebook. #evensteven
Whether it is the heat or the upcoming fall that is going to drive you to look for some indoor fun make sure you put Kids at Play on the list. The facility is so well done and it is a great way to burn some energy or … take out your oldest on a zipline… whatever you’re into.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
- Take socks
- They have a healthy vending machine
- They clean the ball in the ball pit every week with a special machine
- There is plenty of free parking. The only thing I found a little tricky is the one lane road that leads back to Kids at Play. Just make sure when you turn off Ridge Ave onto Scotts Lane you take your time because it can be a little busy for a one lane road.
- Go to their website and fill out the waiver before you go, take a look at the therapy services they offer and check their classes.
