So let’s start this off with men’s professional lacrosse is not a popular sport in Philadelphia which means that tickets are affordable, it is never packed and besides parking being $15 it is easy because there is a ton of it. Sounds like an easy night right…well almost. As long as Philly is winning the Wings lacrosse games are family friendly. Before anything even starts you have the fans yelling “YOU SUCK” after each name of the opposing team is announce. Funny but confusing for Henry. There are a fair amount of fans standing up and “criticizing” the referees throughout the game. Oh they also yell “YOU SUCK” after each of the referees names are called. Local fans also try to “mix it up” with visiting team fans throughout the game. That said all the regulars get along really well and have a really good time swearing loudly in front of their kids.

I would say the best part was the people watching and I played lacrosse for 12 years. “Super fans” fastinate me but B-sports “super fans” are pretty fun to watch. They take the game very seriously to the point that you would think the opposing team killed their childhood dog. Truth: I think the whole thing is a little bizarre. They had a middle school band struggle through America the Beautiful, an elementary school attempt to sing the Star Spangle Banner and the Arcadia Dance Team was the half time show…no comments (oh I got comments).

So let’s see what is my wrap up on this one… I am glad we went. It was a little weird, a little boring, a little random and it was a good way to kill 2 hours. I can check this one off the list for a long, long, long time.

Good 2 Know:

Do not park at the first spot you see unless you are on the box office side. Not all entrances are open and it can be a drag (literally) with little ones if you have to walk around the building.

In the parking lot not exits are open after the game is over so you should leave at the Broad Street side.

They did not check my bag at all so I could have totally brought food in for Henry.
