You know what says fun? Face painting lessons on a random Wednesday. Henry was totally apprehensive about being turned into a tiger for the first time but after he saw himself in the mirror it took me a good 10 minutes to pull him away. This week we discovered a little city gem and its name is Portside Arts Center in the Port Richmond part of the city. For No Libs families this is a quick 5-1o minutes drive. For Center City families I know what your thinking but get over it and listen.

I never know what I am going to walk into when I take the kids to a new place but I was pleasently surprised by PAC from the moment I grabbed one of the many open parking spaces and saw it shining brightly on the corner. Spending many hours in the school art room growing up I instantly got a nostalgic feel for the place. It was organized but creative and you could tell they do a lot of fun things here.

It took us a minute to get upstairs because one the staffers what giving hugs to some of their regular kids on their way out for the night. Something like that is always nice to see. The entire staff was friendly, happy and excited for the event.  A lot of love is put into this place and the people that come.

Portside offers a great and healthy list of classes for Kids, Teens and Adults in Art, Music and Acting. I really encourage everyone to check these guys out. Maybe it is the face painting fumes talking but they have something special going on and you feel it as soon as you walk in.

A special thanks to Teri Ramsey the Director of By My Side for introducing me to this place.
