For locals this is a great place to go to mix it up from the regular playgrounds. If you are a tourist and are doing the historic district this is where you want to stop in for a break or to grab a bite. About three blocks from Independence Hall it is worth the walk.

Order up!

Yes, there are food places right by the main attractions but none of them serve good food and they are tourist traps. Since you have been waiting in lines all day you should at least treat yourself to a great burger and shake at Square Burger run by Star Restaurants.

If you are sightseeing it is great place to take to let everyone run around. There is mini golf for the athletic, a merry go round for the nostalgic and a great playground for the traditionalist in the group. If all else fails it is pretty fun to pose the small fries in the group in front of the mini golf mini local landmarks.

There is always stuff going on for kids so click here to check out the schedule.

ASK A MOM

I like Franklin Square but parking is an issue. If you are on foot you don’t have to worry about it but if you are driving there is a lot on 8th street but drive around first and see if you can find some street parking. I think it is fair to comment that the park is located right in the center of a busting intersection.

I do think you should go here for lunch if you are visiting Independence Hall or the Liberty Bell. There is plenty of picnic tables, Square Burger and there is plenty of shade.

PARKING:

TIP: The best place to find parking is if you turn on to 6th street from Callowhill Street and make your first left. Depending on the time of day you should find some parking…but you still have to go under the underpass and cross over a major intersection.
